Special Olympics Oath
Iowa Special Olympics Let me win,
But if I cannot win,
Let me be brave in the attempt.

Special Olympics are made possible by thousands of volunteers who know that persons with mental
retardation can enjoy a positive experience through participation and competition in a sports program.
Over 10,000 athletes beginning at the age of 8 are active participants in Iowa. Ribbons and
medals are earned in Special Olympics, just as in other sports programs.

A yearly schedule of events is available from the State office. Activities include aquatics,
track and field, bowling, wheelchair, winter games, power lifting, cheerleading, basketball,
golf and tennis, volleyball and others.

Volunteering includes coaching athletes and/or helping run activities and tournaments.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.
