Make a Wish

We all wish. We all need to wish. Every day brings routine, the predictable. Without realizing it, although each day we're comfortable with routine, we long to go a different way. We long to be surprised. We long to break out and feel something new, something exciting. See things in a new way.

Some people dream of a day away from all the hustle and bustle, a day in the woods walking, thinking. Others want to get into an exhilarating sports game. Diving into a good book is an escape for some. Going to a loud party is a get away for others.

When I asked one of my friends at Opportunity Village what she wished would happen, she said,"I want to go on a trip to Disneyland." A place that is truly away from reality, a dream world where you can make friends with cartoons and take rides into dream worlds is her get away.

We all need to dream, to make a wish. In his book, Dreamcatcher, King says, "...they are like boys in a huddle before some big game." That's theway we should dream. Really get into it. Our dreams take us away from the day-to-day routine and therefore we need to really try to dream once in a while.

Make a wish. It's not as far away as you think. Sometimes just wishing brings the feeling close.
