Getting Away

Don't you just want to get away once in a while? Away from the everyday, the routine, the hustle and bustle? Don't you just want to get away even if only in your mind? We need to get away once in a while.

Recently I asked a friend at Opportunity Village where she would go if she could go anywhere she wanted. She told me, "I would love to go to England sometime and see Big Ben. I want to go to England because they speak english. I would not be able to understand French, German, Spanish, etc."

For her, getting away means to travel to a another country, but not so far that she feels uncomfortable because she doesn't understanding the language. For others, it means traveling to a place far away from anyone, maybe off into a dreamland that only that person sees. For some, it means being with their family, because they're away so much of the time that being home would be a wonderful change. For me, a good book can take me wherever I want; sometimes its non-fiction just to learn about something new, other times it's fiction that takes me away in my mind.

Everybody has a place, their own place, to where they want to get away. Get away to that place once in a while. You will appreciate where you come from when you look back.
