What pushes you?
| You have something that really makes you go - something that really pushes you. What is it? For some it's as challenging as a good book or a complex math problem. For others it's as simple as a walk in the country or
fishing in a far-away, quiet pond. What pushes me is communicating,
especially in foreign languages. A friend of mine from Opportunity Village told me this: "My favorite thing is riding my bike on the bike trail and going jogging outside." Each person likes something different but whatever you enjoy, it's special to you. That's what counts most. Here's what the famous poet Walt Whitman said in "Song of Myself": "I tramp a perpetual journey...I have no chair, no church, no philosophy...my left hand hooking you round the waist, my right hand pointing to landscapes of continents and the public road,...not I, not anyone else can travel that road for you, you must travel it for yourself." In this big world, there's something for everyone. What pushes you? No one can answer that except you. Whatever it is, enjoy. |
