Differences

A boring world is one without change, without variety, without perspectives. We need differences in life, to see the world in different ways. There's so much to see & so many ways to see it.

When I asked my friends at Opportunity Village about what makes people different from other countries, here is what they say: "They talk different in other countries and their are also other people that do talk different in the United States and they talk funny. They eat different kinds of foods. They have different colors of skin. They have different personalities than we do... They live in different climates and have different animals for pets. Like in some areas of the world they eat dogs and horses which we would never do."

In the book The Taft-Thacher Letters, Nicholson writes about differences: "...the West and East are undoubtedly different in many respects, but what the East does not realize fully, I think, is that most of the men of importance in the West have come from the East themselves...with strong ties to the East...whereas the Easterner has seen little of the West... My point is that it is the Westerner who is broad in his view and comprehensive in his knowledge of conditions throughout the country, and the Easterner who is provincial..."

Look around you. There's a whole big world out there. Differences are everywhere. Don't be afraid of difference but instead learn about it, understand it, and you'll begin to appreciate it. Just like every snowflake is different, and the stars above us are uncountable, each of us is special and brings something different, and wonderful, into the world.
