Go For It
|
Keeping our eyes on the goal is important. Not just sports either.
Whatever your goal, that makes the difference. It distinguishes you from
the pack. We need to think ahead, to plan, in order to get there. We all
have different goals and different ways to get there. But you're not even
going to get off the starting line if you don't see the goal.
We each need a goal. It may range from a New Year's Resolution to a Career Goal. You need to ask yourself, if you don't have a goal, are you really going somewhere? We each need a goal. The clearer the goal, the clearer the path is to get to that goal. Recently I asked my friend at Opportunity Village to share their wish for this new year, 2005. She said, "What do I wish for this new year? I wish I could move to the Group Home this year. I spent some time at the Group Home and I really liked it. I need to wait until there is an opening before I can move up there." What is a goal? It may be your outlook: In Kirow's book, Pro Football '81, it says that Lee Roy Selmon of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said "All it is is attitude." What is a goal? It may be a path: In his poem, "Song of Myself," Walt Whitman says "I tramp a perpetual journey...not I, not anyone else can travel that road for you, you must travel it for yourself." What is a goal? It may be a belief: In her poem, "I Never Saw a Moor," Emily Dickinson says "I never saw a moor; I never saw the sea, yet I know how the heather looks...I never spoke to God, nor visited in heaven. Yet certain are I of the spot.." Put a goal out in front of you. And go for it. |
